We wanted to build something that fills that gap—a lamp that gives you professional-grade results without requiring a corporate budget. Our 80W/cm mercury lamps hit that sweet spot of UVC and UVB wavelengths. That’s the “magic” that actually tells your UV inks and coatings to harden instantly.
Speed vs. Heat
When you see “80W/cm,” don’t just think of it as a technical spec. Think of it as yourline speed. More power means more photons hitting your work every second. In plain English? You can crank up the conveyor belt and keep things moving. No more worrying about “tacky” ink or prints that aren’t quite dry when they hit the packing table. But there is a catch. All that power creates a lot of heat. If your exhaust fans aren’t pulling enough air, you’re going to have problems. You might see thin substrates warp or the surface of your ink start to burn. Keep the airflow steady. Trust me, your quartz envelope will thank you.
The Science (The Simple Version)
We use a pressurized mercury vapor fill to keep the light steady. Once the ballast kicks in with that starting voltage, the mercury ionizes and creates a UV plasma. We also use specific quartz glass that lets the UV light pass straight through. We don’t want the glass soaking up the energy; we want every bit of that light hitting your product.
Making it Work in Your Shop
The worst part about most lamps is the “proprietary” trap. You buy one system, and suddenly you’re locked into buying overpriced replacement bulbs for the next ten years. We hated that. So, we made this a drop-in replacement. It works with most standard fixtures and industrial ballasts, so you probably won’t need to rip out your wiring or call in an electrician for a total overhaul. Just keep an eye on the clock. Running these at full 80W/cm capacity wears down the electrodes faster. You’ll notice the intensity dip over time. The best move is to track your hours and swap the lamp out before you start seeing curing failures on the floor. It’s much cheaper to replace a bulb than to scrap a whole batch of prints.
