What actually keeps you up at night is the spectral output, the purity of the quartz, and whether the lamp is going to melt under thermal stress the moment you push it.
The real physics of a custom build
Picking a lamp isn’t as simple as scrolling through a catalog and grabbing a wattage. It’s more like a puzzle. You have to match the wavelength to the specific photoinitiator in your ink or coating. We spend our time tuning the electrode geometry and the gas fill to hit those specific output peaks. But here’s the catch: if you try to cram higher wattage into a shorter tube, you’re cranking up the heat density. You’ll get a faster cure, sure. But you’re pushing that quartz to the absolute limit. Your cooling fans are going to be screaming just to keep the tube from warping.
The stuff you can’t see (but definitely feel)
We use high-purity synthetic quartz. Why? Because cheap glass acts like a wall, blocking the shortwave radiation you actually need to get the job done. Then there’s the seal. The spot where the electrode meets the quartz is the most vulnerable part of the whole build. A tiny leak, and your lamp’s lifespan plummets. We’ve spent years obsessing over our fusing process so these things can take a beating in a vibrating industrial shop without giving up.
Making it work in your shop
We designed these as drop-in replacements. They match the footprints and connectors of the big international brands, so you can just wire them into your existing ballast and get back to work. No modifications, no headaches. Just a heads-up, though: you can’t have everything. When you push for maximum intensity, the housing is going to get hot.
